A free AI visibility check shows whether AI search engines name and cite your brand when someone asks about what you do. You enter your website, and the tool samples real answers from major AI platforms. In a few minutes, you can see where you already show up, where a competitor shows up instead of you, and where your gaps are. There is no account to create and nothing to install.

Most brands are surprised by the result. You can rank well on Google and still be invisible inside AI answers, because AI search decides what to recommend differently from how a search engine ranks links.

What is AI visibility?

AI visibility is how often, and how prominently, a brand appears in answers generated by AI search tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, and Google AI Overviews. Traditional search shows a list of blue links. AI search gives one answer, and that answer either includes your brand or it does not. AI visibility measures whether the AI actually names you, recommends you, or cites your site as a source.

This matters because buyers increasingly ask an AI assistant for recommendations before they ever open a classic search results page. If the AI does not know you belong in the conversation, you are left out of the shortlist before the buyer has even seen your name.

How the free AI visibility check works

We built this to be transparent, so you can trust the result. Here is exactly what happens when you run it.

  1. You enter your website. Add your domain. The check also detects the competitors that appear in AI answers for your category, so you get a side by side view without any extra setup.
  2. The tool asks AI engines about your category. It sends a set of representative questions, the kind of questions a real buyer would ask, to ChatGPT and Perplexity.
  3. It records what the AI said. For each answer, it captures whether your brand was mentioned, whether your site was cited as a source, and which brands and sources the AI used instead.
  4. You get a plain snapshot. You see where you appear, where you do not, and who is taking the space you want.

One honest note. AI answers are not fixed. The same question can produce a slightly different answer from one run to the next, because these models are probabilistic. So treat this as a sampled snapshot of a moment in time, not a single permanent score. To see a stable trend, you need to measure repeatedly over time, which is what continuous tracking is for.

What the check looks at

  • Brand mentions. Does the AI name your brand in its answer?
  • Citations. Does the AI link to your website as a source? A citation is stronger than a mention, because it sends the reader to you.
  • Competitor presence. Which rival brands show up when you do not? This is your share of voice.
  • Cited sources. Which pages and domains the AI trusts for your topic, so you know where the authority currently sits.

The free check samples answers from ChatGPT and Perplexity. The full Authority Radar product tracks eight platforms: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, and Meta AI.

How to read your results

If your brand appears and is cited: good. You are in the answer set for that question. Keep the momentum by staying consistent and adding fresh, well sourced content.

If your brand is mentioned but not cited:the AI knows you exist but is trusting someone else's page as the source. The fix is usually stronger, clearer content on your own site that answers the question directly, plus more third party sources describing you accurately.

If your brand does not appear at all: the AI does not yet associate you with the topic. This is common for newer brands and for brands whose category is crowded. The path forward is entity building: make it easy and consistent, across your site and across the web, for an AI to understand what you do and who you serve.

If competitors dominate: look at which sources the AI cited for them. Those pages show you the type of content and the type of coverage the AI currently rewards for your category.

Why your result can differ by platform

You might appear in ChatGPT but not in Perplexity, or in Google AI Overviews but not in Gemini. That is normal. Each AI platform draws on different sources and weighs them differently, so your visibility is really several different results, not one. Checking each platform separately is the only way to see the full picture, and it tells you where to focus first.

There is also a useful connection to your existing search data. The questions where you already earn Google impressions, which you can see in Google Search Console, are exactly the questions where you most want to be visible in AI answers too. Lining up your real search demand with your AI visibility is how you prioritize. Authority Radar was built to make that connection, since it integrates with Google Search Console alongside its AI visibility tracking. You do not need any of that to run the free check, though. The free check stands on its own.

What to do after your check

A one time snapshot tells you where you stand today. To actually move the needle, you need two things: a plan to improve, and a way to measure whether it worked.

  • To improve visibility, start with clear, genuinely helpful content that answers the questions buyers ask, make sure your brand is described consistently everywhere it appears, and earn honest third party coverage.
  • To measure over time, track the same questions on a schedule so you can see the trend rather than a single reading. Continuous tracking across platforms, competitor share of voice, and the tie in to Google Search Console are what the full AI visibility tracking product adds, starting at $49 per month. There is a 7 day free trial if you want to try it.

No pressure to upgrade. Plenty of people run the free check, take the insight, and act on it themselves. The tool is genuinely free. We only ask for an email so your report can reach you, and nothing else.

Who this is for

  • SEO and content teams who need to know if their work is showing up in AI answers, not just in rankings.
  • Founders and marketers at newer brands who suspect AI assistants are not recommending them yet.
  • Agencies who want a fast, no friction way to show a client where they stand in AI search.

About this tool and who made it

This free AI visibility check is built and maintained by Authority Radar, an AI visibility platform that tracks brand mentions and citations across major AI search engines and connects that data to Google Search Console. We work with this data every day, and we built the free tool from the same methodology we use in the full product, so the snapshot you get here is consistent with what continuous tracking would show.

We are deliberately open about the limits. AI answers vary between runs, the free check is a sample rather than an exhaustive audit, and no tool can promise to get you recommended by an AI. What this check does well is give you an honest starting point.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. You can run the check without paying and without entering a credit card. It is a genuine free tool, not a trial that charges you later.

No signup and no account. We do ask for an email address, because that is how your private report link reaches you. One email with your report, nothing else.

The free check samples answers from ChatGPT and Perplexity, two of the most used AI assistants. The full Authority Radar product covers ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, and Meta AI.

A mention is when the AI names your brand in its answer. A citation is when the AI links to your website as a source. A citation is stronger, because it sends the reader directly to you.

It is an accurate snapshot of the answers sampled at that moment. Because AI models are probabilistic, the same question can give a slightly different answer on another run, so a single check is a starting point rather than a fixed score. Repeated checks over time give you a reliable trend.

For a one time gut check, once is fine. To track progress after you make changes, check on a regular schedule, for example weekly or monthly, so you can see the direction of travel rather than a single reading.

Yes. The free check is a snapshot. Continuous tracking across platforms, with competitor share of voice and a Google Search Console connection, is what the full Authority Radar product does, from $49 per month with a 7 day free trial.

SEO rankings measure where your pages sit in a list of links. AI visibility measures whether an AI assistant names, recommends, or cites your brand inside a single generated answer. You can rank well and still be missing from AI answers, which is why both are worth measuring.

Each platform uses different sources and weighs them differently, so your visibility varies by platform. Checking each one separately shows you where you are strong and where to focus next.

Yes. The check detects the competitors that appear in AI answers for your category automatically, so the side by side view of who the AI names and cites comes with every report.
